The Hialeah Stormettes are a competitive year round synchronized Swimming team ages 5 to 17 , that is managed and run by the City of Hialeah Parks and Recreation Department. Our team is coached by coach Nerey Rodriguez at our home Pool Milander Aquatic Center and our satellite pool Babcock Pool. Practices are five days a week and you must have a level 3 American Red Cross learn to Swim certificate or higher top try out for the team.
Synchronized swimming is a hybrid of swimming, gymnastics, and dance. It involves strength, endurance, flexibility, grace and artistry. The swimmers perform choreographed routines to music. In 1952, synchronized swimming showcased at the Olympic Games and it became an official Olympic event in 1984. This sport is governed internationally by the Federation Internationale de Natation Amateur (FINA).
