Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program grant has the primary objective to expand the supply of decent, safe, sanitary, and affordable housing, as well as support the creation of programs geared to assist low and moderate-income families and individuals, augmenting and fostering economic growth. Throughout this program, the City has been able to create and strengthen linkages between all levels of government, the private sector, other non-profit and for-profit agencies and organizations, thus maximizing existing resources.
Micro-Enterprise Business Assistance Program
The Micro-Enterprise Business Assistance Program is a program aimed at small businesses in Hialeah (5 or fewer employees) in a selected area and provides financial assistance to support business expansion, increased revenues, and economic development in the city.
Community Cultural Enrichment Program
The Community Cultural Enrichment Program strives to invigorate the beautification and cultural enrichment of the city through the installation of permanent fixtures at various public facilities throughout Hialeah.
Primary Care Clinic
CDBG funds are used by the City to help fund the Citrus Health Network's operation of a primary care clinic targeting low-income and uninsured individuals and families in Hialeah to provide treatment against prevalent diseases, preventive care, vaccinations, health screenings, pediatric care, and more.
Therapeutics Program
The CDBG program funds a therapeutic program designed to help youth and adults with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities as well as autism in Hialeah.
Crime Prevention
The City of Hialeah funds the acquisition of equipment that assists the Hialeah Police Department in the prevention and deterrence of criminal activity within areas affected by violent crime, making a safer community for Hialeah residents.
Hialeah Technology Center
The Hialeah Technology Center (HiaTec) is a non-profit industrial training and technology development center that contributes to the economic development of the local community through training and business incubation. HiaTec programs are targeted to upgrade the skills of local workers for new and better job opportunities in our city.
Roadway Improvements
The City is executing roadway improvement projects to replenish the condition of various roads throughout Hialeah that have been in need of repair. Specifically, the current roads chosen for these infrastructure improvements are: W 31 St & W 32 St (from W 8 Ave to W 12 Ave), W 46 St (from W 16 Ave to 18 Ct and W 17 Ct from W 46 St to W 49 St), W 16 Ave (from W 68 St to W 74 St), and W 21 Ct (from W 56 St to W 60 St).
Emergency/Residential Repairs
The City of Hialeah utilizes CDBG funds to provide eligible extremely low, very low, and low-income households with assistance in the event of necessity for emergency repairs to their homes, such as deplorable conditions present in an electrical, plumbing, mechanical, or roofing capacity. As well, the City utilizes these funds for augmentations to homes for improved accessibility for residents with special needs.
