The City of Hialeah’s Communications Division is one of the most advanced 911 Centers in the United States. The City of Hialeah Public Safety Communications Division is one of the highly trained 911 Centers that use Emergency Police Dispatch, Emergency Fire Dispatch and Emergency Medical Dispatch Protocols governed through the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch (IAED).
The Public Safety Communications Division is comprised of 52 budgeted civilian employees consisting of Complaint Officers (911 Call Takers), Police and Fire Dispatchers, Police Records Specialists, Police Supervisory personnel and Administrative Support Staff. An annual average of over 400,000 calls for service are handled, over 60% of which are 911 calls. Commander Jorge Llanes oversees the function of the Communication Section.
