Jose Marti Commemorative Walk
The 2015 Jose Marti Commemorative Walk honoring the great Cuban poet and hero is scheduled for Sunday, January 25, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. along West 29th Street, (Jose Marti Boulevard) in Hialeah. We encourage all local municipalities, local schools and organizations to join us and represent themselves.
Marked by gentle spring breezes and a whole lot of fun, the City of Hialeah Easter Egg-Stravaganza offers one of the largest egg hunts in all of South Florida with over 50,000 eggs. The Egg-Stravaganza takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Goodlet Park located at 4200 W. 8th avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Parking and admission is free.
Hialeah’s Egg-Stravaganza is much more than an egg-hunt. The event includes an afternoon of live entertainment featuring young talented artists from Hialeah schools, dance academies and our very own talented youth from the Goodlet Theater Cultural Arts program. Children can play all day in the Kids Zone featuring rides and interactive inflatables. Throughout the day, kids will have an opportunity to have their picture taken with the Easter Bunny inside Goodlet Theater. Plenty of food and beverages are also available for purchase.
Independence Day 2015 Celebrate with family and friends on July 4th at the City of Hialeah’s annual Independence Day Celebration with live entertainment, music, food, games and activities at the kid zone and a spectacular fireworks and laser light show. The event is held at Milander Park located at 4700 Palm Avenue. The gates to Ted Hendricks Stadium open at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 4th.
Holiday Food Drive
October 1st, 2015 marks the onset of the City of Hialeah’s annual Holiday Food Drive. Hundreds of students from various schools within the City, Hialeah residents and City employees collect canned goods to be distributed to many needy families from our community for the Thanksgiving Holiday. On Monday, November 23, 2015, the Mayor and Council distribute turkeys & bags of canned goods at the Milander Center at the image Holiday Food Drive (9.78 MB) Ceremony.

The 30th Annual Turkey Trot is scheduled for Monday, November 23, 2015 on at 3:00 p.m. at Milander Park located at 4800 Palm Avenue, Hialeah. We invite all children between the ages of 6 and 13 to join in what has become a Hialeah holiday tradition. Prizes for the Turkey Trot include turkeys that will be awarded to the first place winners in each age category and seasonal pies for second and third place winners. The fourth, fifth and sixth place winners receive ribbons and trophies. Children are encouraged to pre-register with their school or local park.
Triangle Park Tree Lighting Ceremony
Kick off the holiday season with the traditional Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Triangle Park on Friday, November 20, 2015. Watch as Mayor Hernandez flips the switch to transform the park into a winter wonderland, featuring over 20,000 lights and live entertainment and food.
Kids have the opportunity to meet and photograph with Rudolph the reindeer and Frosty the Snowman while they wait for the guests of honor – Santa and Mrs. Claus, who arrive aboard a shiny, red City of Hialeah Fire truck.
The City of Hialeah’s Annual Santa’s Snow Blast brings 50 tons of snow to Hialeah! Children of all ages are invited to come with their parents for carnival rides, games, food, live entertainment and, of course, the opportunity to play on a mountain of glistening, white snow. Inside Goodlet Theater, kids can visit and have their picture taken with Santa & Mrs. Claus. Come and be a part of this extraordinary event that’s fun for the whole family! The Snow Blast is scheduled for Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Goodlet Park located at 4200 West 8th Avenue.
Florida Grand Opera Presents La Opera en Hialeah
On Friday, March 20, 2015, members of Florida Grand Opera’s Young Artist Program will perform in ¡Ópera Viva, Viva Ópera!, a Spanish-language concert for residents at Hialeah’s Milander Center for Arts and Entertainment. FGO Family Day allows children to explore opera production through hands-on activities. The event will take place at the Milander Center Amphitheater on March 27th, 2014.
Opera Lab, a “laboratory of learning through opera,” is a 10 month in-school residency program which demonstrates the application of academic subjects through a creative, arts-based medium. It will take place at Hialeah High School, Hialeah Middle School and Westland Hialeah High.
Read Along, Sing a Song engages children and families with interactive sessions that combine reading with playing instruments, dancing, and singing at important parts of children’s storybooks, making reading even more fun! The program will take place at the John F. Kennedy Library on October 28th, February 10th and April 2nd at 6:30 pm.
