A Message From The Mayor

Dear Residents,

Welcome to the online office of the Mayor. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you, our citizens, about some of the City’s latest endeavors, as we continue to strive for excellence.

We have been working persistently on many new and exciting projects for the City of Hialeah and with the efforts of everyone involved; we are witnessing positive results throughout. We are known as the “City of Progress,” and that is what we continue to aim for; enhancing and placing Hialeah at the forefront of economic, social and educational development. An example of this is the growing number of Cultural and Educational events occurring throughout the City, such as Art on Palm and Palm Classic and Art in public spaces.

We are very proud of our beautiful Milander Center for Arts & Entertainment, a gem in our wonderful city. Milander has unique facilities that stand out from hotels and conference centers. We regularly host events for members of our community and are excited to see Milander become a go-to location for business meetings and private social events. Considered an epicenter for our surrounding communities, Hialeah has played host to major County events such as the State of the County Address and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Transition Projects End of the Year Luncheon, both held at our Milander Center.

As our City progresses, we continuously welcome new businesses who choose Hialeah as the destination for a new location, including Jimmy John’s Gourmet Sandwiches, Michaels, Sweetness Bake Shop, Hooters and ALDI. We are working diligently to further our commitment to facilitating job creation and economic growth for both the industrial and commercial sectors in our city. The City of Hialeah was recognized by Governor Rick Scott as one of the cities with the most job creation in the State of Florida and recognized Hialeah as a vital economic engine for the State.

Safety and security remain major objectives for the City of Hialeah. Several improvements to the Hialeah Police Department help us to ensure our citizens are well protected. Hialeah still has one of the lowest crime rates in the State of Florida and throughout the U.S. The men and women of the Hialeah Police Department are committed to serving the residents of our community every day.

We are constantly working on roadway construction and beautification throughout the city’s major arteries, as well as residential areas while stimulating residents to improve their own homes and jointly develop a more astonishing image of our city. The City’s website increasingly provides our residents with valuable information from our various departments.

In Hialeah, we are family and I hope to see you at our events throughout the year. We are the City of Progress and we will continue to strive for excellence!

Carlos Hernandez, Mayor
