Garbage Collection

The City of Hialeah needs your help in keeping its streets and swale areas in an attractive and presentable condition. Your knowing about and adhering to current waste collection procedures will definitely help in keeping your neighborhood clean, and will therefore add to your property’s value by making Hialeah a better place to live.

In an attempt to beautify your neighborhood please abide by the following:

  • Garbage collection is performed in your area twice weekly. Please have your containerized waste at the curb prior to 6:00 AM on your collection day.
  • All garbage is to be placed in front of your own home.
  • Please do not place any containerized waste out prior to 24 hours before your scheduled collection day.
  • Please use garbage cans, plastic bags and boxes to contain your waste.
  • Any items of household garbage and/or trash may be discarded as long as they fit into a container as specified above.
  • Large, bulky household items should not be put out for garbage collection; but rather on your bulk trash collection day. This includes items such as couches, sofas, box springs and mattresses, furniture and cabinets.
  • Please try to retrieve your garbage cans (if you do use them) as soon as possible after collection occurs. Pails left at the curb all day long give your area a very unsightly appearance, and do tend to roll into the street should a strong wind develop.

Remember this is not just a collection for garbage. Small items of trash including bags of grass may also be discarded AS LONG AS THEY ARE "CONTAINERIZED".

Bulk Trash Collection

  • Bulky trash consist of items, such as: (but is not limited to)
    • Major tree cut backs; large amounts of tree cutting and tree trunks.
    • Furniture and cabinets.
    • Beds, box springs, sofas and couch.
    • Fence posts and wooden fence material
  • Tree branches should not be longer than three (3) feet in length.
  • When placing your monthly bulk trash at the curb, do not mix your trees and branches with your other bulk trash, as we cannot send "mixed loads" for recycling.
  • City of Hialeah Solid Waste Department shall not be responsible for collecting or hauling, discarded building materials such as, concrete, blocks, lumber, rock, plaster, drywall, dirt, roofing, tile or other like materials.  Residents are responsible for the proper disposal of said materials.  However, if a resident performs a minor repair such as the removal of a door or window collection crews are instructed to collect a scoop bucket full of this type debris as a service to our residents.
  • Do not place old wrecked cars and car parts on the public street
