Since 1976, Hialeah has been involved in the Special Olympics Program. Numerous participants compete in a multitude of individual and team events year-round. The City’s delegation of athletes is one of the largest in the Special Olympics Miami-Dade program and one of the largest in the State of Florida.
Special Olympics training and competition is an integral key to the overall well being of our program’s participants. Over the years, the City of Hialeah has experienced much success competing in the Special Olympics Program, winning several state team championship titles and countless individual gold, silver and bronze medals.
Special Olympics is composed of individual and team sports both male and females that are adapted to one’s age and ability. The City of Hialeah’s Special Olympians compete in the Following events:
