Police Department :: About the Department :: Support Services :: Property Unit

The Hialeah Police Property Unit receives found property and all property turned in as evidence by Law Enforcement Officers. During the course of a year, the unit handles approximately 5000 pieces of property. These items are kept in inventory until the case is completed. When the cases are closed, depending on the disposition of the case, these items are either returned to the owner, donated to charities, destroyed, or given to the City. Property personnel maintain accurate records of each piece of property and monitor its activity while in their custody.

The Property Unit is located at the south side of the Hialeah Police Department, 5555 E 8 Ave. Our hours of operation are 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Citizens who want to pick-up their property must present valid identification such as a Florida Driver’s license, Florida I.D. card or an Alien Card. Sometimes proof of ownership is required to release certain items. In some cases, items can only be returned with a court order. Please call ahead to answer any questions (305) 769-7710.
