Police Department :: About the Department :: Support Services :: Communications Systems

The Hialeah Police Department Communications Section is the primary answering point for the City of Hialeah’s 9-1-1 System. It is the initial location where 9-1-1 calls for both Police and Fire & Rescue Services are answered. The mission of this Section is twofold, one being the receiving of the initial call by our Complaint Officers who subsequently send it to the Dispatchers. The Dispatchers then relay the information to the Police Officers in the field via the police radio. In addition to the 9-1-1 emergency system, this section is also the central location for receiving and answering all routine requests for Police services.

The above process is accomplished by our employees with the use of our new, state of the art, C.A.D., Computer Aided Dispatch, and 800 MHz police radio system. This highly technological and modern, elaborate computer system is housed in our 10,000-foot building. Next to our building, there are two 250-foot antennas to accomplish all radio transmissions. In addition to the two on site antennas, there are several other ones strategically placed throughout the City.

Our mission is accomplished with a total of approximately 50 employees, working 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All of who have the same goal in mind, the safety and security of our officers and citizens.
