Sector One Community Policing is the Hialeah Police Department’s newest addition to its family. On September 6, 1998 the department opened its first of five sub-stations in Sector One, the city’s southeastern most sector. The purpose of opening these smaller police stations was directly related to the city’s interest in the decentralization of police services and it’s commitment in improving police services. Sector One Community Policing integrates calls for police service with close involvement with the business community and citizens. Maintaining a police station for the public within the area in which the officer’s work on a daily basis is integral to the building of a bond between the citizenry and it’s officers. Our goal in this respect is to maintain this nexus to a degree that will establish a high degree of trust and cooperation between the police and the citizens in the area in which they work.

Sector One Community Policing is comprised of one Police Lieutenant, six Police Sergeants, Six Public Service Aides, and one Clerk Typist who handles daily administrative tasks necessary in maintaining an efficiently run sector. The Public Service Aides are a crucial element of our station, as they are available and assist the public both in person and via telephone on a twenty-four hour basis. They assist the public greatly with a wide array of police reports and give their very personalized attention to the most common of neighborhood complaints in the sector.

Our presence in the area was extremely welcomed and appreciated. The citizens of Sector One have worked closely with the police to help find ways to decrease crime and help improve their quality of life. From the start, community meetings were held and the public was informed of our new station, but more importantly our new mission in Sector One.

Here at Sector One Community Policing civilians and sworn officers work together very closely. Our mission is to lower crime, respond to the communities needs, maintain a close relationship with business owners and most importantly, to keep the streets and parks free of illicit activity so that our community’s families may enjoy the area in which they live and work. On a daily basis the Officers and civilian employees give their time and effort and personal attention in assisting each individual who walks through our doors. It can be sufficed to say that at Sector One Community Policing, each sworn police officer and every civilian employee shares the commitment and dedication to improving the quality of our community’s life.
