John F.  Kennedy Public Library offers free computer training workshops.  Participants must have a valid City of Hialeah library card

Classes are limited to twelve (12) participants.  Registration begins one hour before each evening workshop.  Sign up in the Computer Lab. 

Classes in Spanish held every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. 
Classes in English held every Wednesday.

Workshops:
Mouse Basics
A beginner’s workshop to become comfortable with the computer mouse, which controls the movement of the cursor or pointer on a computer display screen.  Learn how to locate library materials in the Library’s Online Catalog, while practicing with the mouse.
 

Introduction to Computers
A beginner’s workshop in which participants will learn the basic components of a computer and understand how it works. 

Introduction to E-mail Part 1
(REQUIRES PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF WINDOWS AND MOUSE SKILLS)
Workshop in which participants learn how to sign up for their own free e-mail account using Hotmail.

Introduction to E-Mail Part 2
(REQUIRES INTRODUCTION TO E-MAIL PART 1)
Workshop in which participants learn the benefits of using e-mail, composing and sending a message and reading, forwarding, and deleting e-mail messages.  

Introduction to the Internet
(REQUIRES PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF WINDOWS AND MOUSE SKILLS)
Workshop on using the Internet for local and global information by surfing with the Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) browser.  Topics include:   what is the Internet, structure of the Internet, and how to do simple searches on the World Wide Web.

Introduction to Microsoft WORD
(REQUIRES PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF WINDOWS AND MOUSE SKILLS)
Workshop which shows how to create, modify, and save a document.  Topics will include brief preview of how to use the Resume Wizard.  Participants interested in saving their work from this class are encouraged to bring a formatted 3 ½” floppy disk to class.

Introduction to Search Engines in Spanish
(REQUIRES INTRODUCTION TO THE INTERNET)

Workshop which shows how to look for information in the World Wide Web using search engines in Spanish.
