Computer Use and Internet Safety Policy
Use of the computers implies an acceptance of the entire policy

• Sign up at the Reference or Children’s Desk before using a computer
• Display your library card on the monitor while using a computer
• Computer use is limited to two 30 minute session per patron for a maximum of 60 minutes per day
• Unattended patrons under 12 years must use computers in the Children’s Room at JFK. Children under 5 years of age must be attended by an adult.
• Limit of one patron per computer except for certain designated computers.
• Ask Reference staff for assistance with printer or equipment trouble
• Reference staff can only provide basic assistance
• Adults may not use computers in the Children’s Room except during school hours
• Responsibility for a minor’s computer use rests with the parent or guardian

A staff member may immediately remove you from a computer at his / her discretion or if:

• You are viewing, creating or disseminating sexually explicit material or using chat rooms
• You are attempting to bypass the security of the network or create harm in any way
• You are participating in an illegal activity
• You are installing or downloading programs or files to library computers
• You are running unauthorized programs
• You are changing  settings, icons, or desktop on the computer
• You are mistreating the equipment
• You are infringing on the rights of other patrons
• You are disclosing, using, or disseminating unauthorized personal information regarding minors
• You have not signed up at the Reference Desk
• You do not have a Hialeah Public Library Card

The Hialeah Public Libraries uses a content filter designed to restrict access to materials in accordance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA)
