WHAT IS RECIPROCAL BORROWING?
If you live in areas of Miami-Dade County served by the City of Hialeah Public Libraries, the Miami-Dade Public System, the North Miami Public Library, or the North Miami Beach Public Library, you can get a free card to borrow materials from these libraries.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
Any resident of Hialeah, North Miami, North Miami Beach, or the Miami-Dade Public Library System taxing district can get a free library card.
HOW DO I GET A LIBRARY CARD?
Bring a photo ID and proof of current address to the library you want to use and fill out an application. Children 16 years old and under may need parental authorization. Please check with your library.
WHAT RULES APPLY TO RECIPROCAL CARDS?
Users must obey all rules of the lending library. Materials BORROWED FROM one library system must be returned within same system. If not, overdue fines will accrue until they are returned to the lending library. Any monies due MUST be paid to the library system where the materials were borrowed.
FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE:
Library staff can assist you by checking on-line catalogs, calling other libraries to check material availability, and asking the other library to hold the item for you.
