Solid Waste Mulch Program

In order to facilitate the recycling of trees; all yard waste and flora that residents put out during their once-per-month bulk trash collection, must be separately collected by our trucks so that it can be converted into mulch.

To insure that we recycle as much yard waste as possible, the Department of Solid Waste needs your help. The more trees we recycle into mulch, the less we pay for disposal. All your trees and branches are collected and processed into this valuable product.

When placing your monthly bulk trash at the curb, please place all yard waste to one side of your trash pile. Do not mix your trees and branches with your other bulk trash, as we cannot recycle trees mixed with debris.

We will attempt to collect all yard waste that is free from debris in separate loads. Every branch we collect, in this manner, will be recycled into mulch.

The procedure of collecting your bags of grass clippings and containerized branches twice weekly with your garbage will continue. Our request to separate only refers to large bulk loads of "flora".

Thank you for your cooperation in the recycling program. We could not be as successful as we have been, without your help!

Examples of Yard Waste and Flora:  Branches, cuttings, trunks, limbs, stumps and logs from trees; bushes and shrubs.

The end product of our program is our MULCH, which is given away absolutely FREE TO YOU! It can be picked up at the Department’s yard located at:

5601 EAST 8th AVENUE
