The Public Information Office is the liaison between the Chief of Police and the public. The purpose of this unit is to inform the community of police related events and accomplishments of the department. Many citizens call the Office of the Chief to express their needs and concerns on a daily basis. Subsequently, the members of P.I.O. are readily available to provide guidance.
A good rapport with the media is essential for providing the public with accurate
and factual information. It is the responsibility of this department to convey the
facts that pertain to professional law enforcement. The Public Information Office
Representatives respond to serious police incidents in order to coordinate police
activities with the news media.
The P.I.O. members strive daily to provide efficient police services to the community and achieve professional standards of law enforcement.
