The Hialeah Police Cadet Program is part of the Boy Scouts of America, Law Enforcement
Exploring Program. Teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18 who are interested in
the field of Law Enforcement attend regular weekly meetings at the Police Department
Training Bureau. The meetings are held on Wednesday evenings between 6:30 p.m. -
8:30 p.m. Curriculum topics emphasize Law Enforcement information, hands-on practices,
communication skills, defensive tactics and various life saving skill classes. Great
emphasis is placed on personality, character and spiritual development.
Cadets must perform Community Service and attend an 80 hour Explorer Academy, usually
at Pembroke Pines or Metro Dade Police Departments. After meeting certain requirements,
Cadets may try out for elite teams, such as Drill, Information Competition, and
or Shooting teams. Applicants must have a "C" or better grade point average to apply.
Good Fun! Great Friends! A terrific opportunity to "soar" through your teenage years.
