The Patrol Division Commander exercises line and staff authority over all patrol operations.  His staff which comprises Patrol Administration handles the task of processing and keeping track of the enormous flow of paperwork and information generated by the division.  They also keep track of attendance, scheduling, the Field Training and Evaluation Program, emergency management, special details and citizen complaints, and the coordination of all patrol operations.
