Teen Afterschool Program

The Young
Leaders with Character Program, is the City of Hialeah’s new after-school and summer program for teen students in grades 6-10 attending Jose Marti Middle School, Filer
Middle School, Hialeah Middle School, Excelsior Language Academy of Hialeah, The
City of Hialeah Educational Academy or Westland Senior High school.
Participating students receive tutoring in reading, math, and science, FCAT
preparation, and daily homework help. Students are also encouraged to maintain healthy
lifestyles through Physical Education, recreational activities, nutrition instruction,
and continuous parental involvement. The program includes dropout prevention, character
education, and service learning. Students
are engaged in daily activities, closely supervised by state certified teachers,
trained tutors and counselors.
