One-to-one Reading
Tutoring – America Reads
Through
a partnership with local universities, children
in grades K – 2 receive tutoring in the America
Reads Tutorial Method.
The program is offered weekday afternoons and some evenings at the JFK Library.
Applications for the waiting list are available at the Literacy Office at the John F. Kennedy Library.

Grades 3-9
Improve English
Reading skills using a computer – CEI
Literacy Lab
Children in grades 3rd - 9th (reading below grade level) are eligible to participate in the CEI lab.
The Essential Learning Systems software is a comprehensive program for reading improvement that offers a totally interactive multimedia approach with innovative research-based strategies and methods for learning.
Children in Exceptional Student Education have proven to benefit from participating in CEI labs.
Participants in the program receive one hour of daily instruction 4 days a week, totaling 4 hours per week.
Students must commit to attending the lab Mondays through Thursdays for a six-month period. Space is limited. Basic computer knowledge is helpful.
