Council Member Jose F. Caragol
Dr. José F. Caragol was born in Havana Cuba. Received both elementary and high school education at Belen Jesuit School. Afterwards, he graduated from the University of Havana with a Juris Doctorate degree.

Caragol came to the United States in 1960, and proceeded to work at the United States Department of State, Security Office, Miami, and United States Courts, as a Certified Interpreter.

Mr. Caragol was a college professor at Biscayne College, St. Thomas University and Florida Memorial College, teaching Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Civic courses.

In 1975, José completed the Cuban Lawyer Program at the University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida.

For over three decades José Caragol participated as interpreter for several International Seminars Programs under the auspices of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, the United States State Department and the United Nations. These seminars were held in several Latin American countries.

Mr. Caragol served for over twenty years as interpreter for the City of Hialeah Council Meetings, Planning and Zoning Meetings, and as Public Information Officer for both the Hialeah Police and Fire Departments.

Dr. José F. Caragol proudly served the City of Hialeah, for over two decades, as the person in charge of Protocol and Public Relations Affairs for the Office of the Mayor.
