YLC- BLUE Program

The Young Leaders with Character (YLC)  BLUE Program offers afterschool care Monday-Friday for teens in grades 6-11 at two convenient locations in the city.

This program provides families with a high quality out-of-school services in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment for a low fee.

We’ve designed the Young Leaders with Character BLUE Program for teens who are in need of quality after-school care during the school year and summer months. 

Partnering Schools and Locations

All of our sites are conveniently located within the City of Hialeah. They include:

Days and Hours of Operation

The YLC BLUE Program is open Monday through Friday and follows the Miami-Dade County Public Schools calendar. 

  • City of Hialeah Educational Academy: 2:30 to 6:00 p.m.
  • Jose Marti MAST Academy at Edgar J. Hall: 2:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Afterschool Registration

Registration is simple! To register your teen, simply bring us:

  • A completed registration packet
  • A copy of your child’s birth certificate or passport
  • A copy of your child’s last report card and/or school acceptance letter for incoming students
  • A current photo of your child
  • Proof of address (such as a current utility bill)
  • Your child’s student ID number

Fees

  • Registration Fee (One-time) $30 per child 
  • Weekly Fee $20 per child per week

Summer Registration

The YLC BLUE Program Summer Camp will be held at the City of Hialeah Educational Academy Charter School. Summer Camp will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM-6:30 PM beginning June 8 through August 7, 2020.

Summer Camp registration will begin on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, at each of the after school locations from 2:30-5:30 PM. For more information please call 305-818-9143. 

Summer Camp Activities include: STEM Classes, Field Trips, Nutrition Classes, Enrichment and Fitness Activities.

MANDATORY PARENT ORIENTATION will be held at City of Hialeah Educational Academy on May 21, 2020.

Fees

  • Registration Fee (One-time) $20 per child 
  • Weekly Fees below:
    • $50.00 per child per week if attending one of our partner schools- documentation required
    • $75.00 per child per week if not attending one of our partner schools

Our Staff

Our staff includes trained tutors, counselors, and recreation leaders. There are CPR and first aid certified staff at every site. Staff meet Level 2 screening requirements as described in S. 1012.32 (Florida Statutes). 

Program Accommodations

Program accommodations include a Master Inclusion Teacher, a behavioral analyst consultant for individual cases as needed, as well as daily inclusion aides and trained staff on-site to apply behavior modification techniques for children with behavior challenges and educational strategies for those who have learning difficulties and attention deficits. 

We offer inclusion support at sites if needed and our after-school and summer staff-to-child ratios are 1:15.
